THE POSITION
We are seeking a dynamic and customer-oriented individual to join our team as a Financial Service Representative, Level 1 (FSR1). In this role, you will be the primary contact for new and potential members (customers) of OMISTA Credit Union and will be responsible for assisting members in opening various types of accounts, providing information on financial products and services, and ensuring a smooth onboarding experience. The FSR1 will interview loan applicants, analyze financial information, assess credit worthiness, and make loan recommendations within approved lending limits. As a member of the Financial Services Team of our Branch Network, you will work with professional and skilled individuals who work together to make a meaningful impact on the lives of our members.
Responsibilities
Member Account Opening Services and Onboarding:
- Guide new members through the account opening process, ensuring accuracy and completeness of required documentation.
- Conduct new account interviews for personal banking customers with the intent to understand their needs and wants.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a seamless transition for new members.
Sales Support and Administration:
- Process Mastercard applications.
- Process and/ or check loan applications and related documentation, within assigned lending limits, while adhering to established loans policy and guidelines.
- Conduct security searches and administer security registrations and renewals.
- Assist other Financial Service Representatives in the preparation of documents including but not limited to mortgage instructions for solicitors, mortgage amendments and loan extensions.
Delivery of Lending Services to Members:
- Administer and control assigned portion of loans portfolio.
- Conduct interviews with customers to identify lending needs. Collect and compile information relating to loan and credit card applications (net worth, assets, debts, credit checks, loan documentation etc.) and make recommendations concerning loan applications based on established lending principles.

- Good understanding of financial terminology, principles, and industry conditions.

Education and Training
- College diploma or university degree in a business discipline or sufficient experience in lieu of education (minimum of 2 years). Credit Union Product and Lending Education will be required within 1 year.
