Location: Fundy Discovery Aquarium, Huntsman Marine Science Centre

Commitment: At least 37.5 hours per week anticipated from end of June through August, including weekends and statutory holidays with some changes expected based on activities that will be communicated in advance.

Rate of Pay: Range starting at $15.50 per hour based on education and experience.

The Huntsman Marine Science Centre (St. Andrews, New Brunswick) is a not-for-profit charity organization with a focus on ocean conservation and marine education and research. The Fundy Discovery Aquarium operates seasonally from May - October providing visitation and hands-on experiences for over 30,000 visitors annually. We are looking for active ocean stewards to join our team this summer, who are passionate about the Bay of Fundy and are interested in furthering their education in marine science.


  • Greet guests and answer questions about the facilities, our programs, and the region.
  • Interpret Fundy Discovery Aquarium exhibits, including monitoring separate indoor and outdoor touch tank locations, and perform feeding presentations.
  • Perform sales transactions for entry, experiences, and gift shop, including merchandise and physical count of stock.
  • Participate in a team to implement weekly thematic activities, including pop-up interpretation, monitor independent activity stations, face painting & temporary tattooing, possibly wearing mascot to engage guests.
  • Assist in maintaining Fundy Discovery Aquarium exhibits and facilities, including maintenance to the grounds.
  • Remain professional, friendly, and passionate at all times.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and organized work environment at all times.
  • Work both independently and within a cohesive team to deliver programs that result in an exceptional guest experience.
  • Ensure all health, safety and security procedures are adhered.
  • Assist in any other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Enrolled in high school with an interest to learn about marine biology and the Bay of Fundy.
  • Proven initiative and self-motivated.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a group setting as an effective team player.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Effective oral communication skills.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.

Additional Assets:

  • Proven ability to communicate in French and English.
  • Experience handling and caring for marine animals.
