CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT MANAGER

Midland Transport is currently seeking a full-time Continuous Improvement Manager based out of our Dieppe NB Head Office location reporting to the Director, Operational Excellence. The selected candidate will be a self-starter with a strong work ethic and a "Can Do" attitude. The Continuous Improvement Manager will facilitate process improvement events to ensure they are implemented on time, on budget and well communicated.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education, degree preferred; with 5 years of supervisory experience in a CI based environment
- Must be either a certified Six Sigma Green Belt (or working towards certification) or an experienced lean leader
- Strong coaching skills, ability to lead complex projects and delivering project related presentations
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Minitab;
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence/persuade decision makers and to motivate team members;
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral;
- Effective leadership and conflict resolution skills.
- Proven ability to demonstrate the application of risk assessment to operations and activities.
- Excellent incident investigation and root cause analysis skills.
- Knowledge of Safety fundamentals.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive & influence best results of monthly reporting
- Develop mandates and target benefits for initiatives. Implement, develop and maintain communication plans
- Accountable to develop, assess and strategically mentor talent.
- Facilitate Kaizen events within the site, and exchange to other sites
- Determine what training is needed for each event for participants to successfully achieve mandate and provide training on tools required
- Assist project owners with post event follow-up and tracking of results
- Sell and promote continuous improvement in the terminals and linehaul through various forms of communication
- Liaise with head office and share continuous improvement initiatives/best practices with other sites
- Support other Green Belts as needed in their development process
- Lead the three-year cost and strategic plan by communicating opportunities for improvement initiatives, cost savings and updating the initiative hopper.
- Lead and manage CI meetings and coordinate overall schedule of events
- Be an Irving Management System champion. Conduct yearly survey and action plan.
- Utilize process data to drive fact driven strategies to improve equipment efficiencies.
