Founded in 1903, BF&M is a leading insurance provider with operations in Bermuda, Halifax and across the Caribbean and comprised of several companies selling health, life, pension, and property and casualty insurance products. Reporting to the Head of Regulatory Reporting, this role will support the ongoing regulatory reporting requirements of the Legal and Compliance function across the entire Group of Companies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with on-going compliance monitoring and tasks
  • Maintain regular communication with regulators across jurisdictions and ensure escalation of concerns/queries as appropriate.
  • Assist with the administrative function, which includes preparation, coordination and submission of required filings.
  • Assist with the external audit, internal audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Maintain the compliance document management system and intelligence resource, including regular review and updates of procedure manuals
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by participating in the research and implementation of new and revised regulatory reporting requirements, making recommendations for procedural changes, and by ensuring an understanding of the impact of regulatory change initiatives throughout our operating jurisdictions.

Qualifications

  • A legal or compliance certification/designation and 2-5 years relevant experience in a compliance administration role within the financial services industry.
  • Insurance experience will be viewed as beneficial.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • High level of computer literacy.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail in all activities, particularly data quality and integrity.
  • Ability to work quickly, proactively, and accurately under pressure to meet deadlines.
