Director, Investment Operations
Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) is a department of the Government of Canada. It works across Canada and in all areas of the economy to improve conditions for investment, enhance Canada's innovation performance, increase Canada's share of global trade, and build a fair, efficient and competitive marketplace.
On their behalf, we seek an experienced professional to serve as Director, Investment Operations.
This position is located in the Halifax area and reports directly to the Director General, Strategic Innovation Fund. The primary responsibilities include formulating strategies, plans, policies, and practices that support investment decisions. You will be involved from the investment review and approval process through to the administration of investments, claims, and any adjustments to the repayment schedule.
What qualities are needed for this role?
As the ideal candidate, you possess a strong economic and community development foundation, including business and strategic planning, relationship building within a large complex organization, entrepreneurship, business processes, financial planning, and investment attraction and retention.
Your academic experience includes a degree in a business, economics or public administration related field and you are proficient in both English and French. You are highly organized and analytical, accompanied by solid business acumen and strong negotiation skills.
Your exceptional communication and relationship-building skills have enabled you to establish rapport and credibility with internal and external stakeholders, including government officials, corporations, business and community groups, and individuals. A highly facilitative leader, you have a successful track record of leading distributed teams.
