SALARY: $44,590 to $62,244 per year (Pay Band 2) (Based on 37.5 hours per week)
JOB PURPOSE:
Physician Privileging Assistants will be responsible for all aspects of physician credentialing, licensing, and privileging. They will be responsible for coordinating and maintaining the process of documenting and renewing credentials and licenses for all physicians throughout the lifecycle of a physician from recruitment to exit or retirement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of a recognized post-secondary diploma/degree in business and/or office management.
- Minimum 3-5 years progressively responsible administrative support experience, preferable in a health care setting.
- Ability to attend work on a regular basis.
- Ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Good work record.
- Written and spoken competence in English is required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Initiate Physician Credentialing Process - Send out applications, request references, ensure all documentation submitted is acceptable, identify and investigate any discrepancies
- Prepare file for submission to Credentials Committee, arrange physician on-boarding, notify Medicare, NB Medical Society and College of Physicians and Surgeons of NB of board approval.
- Prepare and submit credentials report to RMAC (Regional Medical Advisory Committee) Ensure the Department of Health (Medicare) has up-to-date reports, including suspension and termination.
- Assist physicians with the bi-annual electronic re-appointment process in CMaRS by providing guidance on uploading of supporting documentation, identifying and investigating any issues with the system, etc.
- Meet with each Department Head for approval, update database/files, and submit recommendations to Credentials and LMAC (Local Medical Advisory Committee). Provide and distribute board letters to required parties.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of medical staff applications, presenting applications to credentialing committee, seek temporary privileges as required, liaising with external stakeholders such as College of Physicians and Surgeons of NB.
- Collect, maintain, and analyze credentialing, licensing, and privileging data to develop insights and reports for privileging metrics
- Maintain detailed records and documentation on work processes
