Events East Group is now inviting applications for the position of Manager, Security Services.

The Manager, Security Services, supports Events East Group by ensuring efficient and effective delivery of all security-related operations at Halifax Convention Centre and Scotiabank Centre. The Security Manager's primary responsibility is to oversee the safety of employees, guests, and property with an emphasis on event-related security services.

The Security Manager also works closely with other operational teams to align scheduling and service delivery with event requirements and the overall guest experience.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee day-to-day security services of both Events East venues, ensuring efficient, optimized use of resources and a seamless operation by:
    • Overseeing scheduling of all security staff in both venues with emphasis on effective use of salaried and hourly resources.
    • Managing security staff including performance reviews and goal setting, coaching and mentoring.
    • Developing, documenting, and maintaining training programs, including initial hiring orientations and supplementary training, as required.
    • Coordinating development and documentation of departmental manuals and service delivery standards.
    • Ensuring intra-departmental communication and information sharing practices are in place, performing regular monitoring for effectiveness and efficiency.
    • Overseeing operation and maintenance of security access control platforms.
  • Take a lead role in facility emergency response.
  • Manage day-to-day relationship with official security partner, including staffing needs and performance management.
  • Oversee research and production of Events East Group event risk assessments focusing on providing solutions and support to management and clients.

  • Manage and/or carry out special investigations as directed.

  • Directly oversee security services at significant/complex/high-profile events, and support of Property Services as required.

Qualifications
  • Completion of high school or equivalent; completion of post-secondary education preferred with focus in either secuirty or management.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a security, management, or supervisory role.

Created as part of a government partnership between the Province of Nova Scotia and Halifax Regional Municipality, we work in collaboration with them to manage our business in a responsible and transparent manner.

We were established in 2014 through legislation to operate, maintain and manage the activities of the Halifax Convention Centre in a manner that will promote and develop economic development, tourism and industry in the Province generally, and the Municipality.
