Partnered with Meridia, Mackay Meters is in search of a Production Manager to join their team in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia.
Role Description
Reporting to the President, you will ensure that a quality product is scheduled and manufactured in a safe, timely, and efficient manner. You will manage the day-to-day activities of the production and warehouse workforce to successfully coordinate material intake and production schedules. This will require frequent communication with department heads, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure the material being procured is in line with production levels and expected sales volumes. Additionally, you will identify opportunities to increase efficiencies and maintain up-to-date training for production staff.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing company resources with a constant aim to improve productivity while reducing downtime and costs
- Supervising all shifts ensuring safety, quality, and production objectives are met
- Supervising warehouse staff to ensure shipping and receiving procedures are kept up-to-date and consistently practiced
- Overseeing inventory control including quarterly counts
- Ensuring all departmental processes meet or exceed IS0 9002 requirements
- Creating process specifications as required
- Scheduling all production and warehouse personnel
- Ensuring all staff are trained to perform specified tasks
- Chairing & maintaining a Workplace Safety Committee monthly meeting & inspection tour
- Liaising with Purchasing to understand materials availability to create a weekly productions schedule
- Liaising with Order Entry manager to provide expected delivery dates based on material availability and production capabilities
- Liaising with department heads including R&D, Finance, and Sales
- Understanding and ensuring all staff adhere to all Company Policies and Procedure
- Coordinating building security needs and maintenance as required, including alarms, locks, lights, etc.
- Managing hirings & dismissals when required for production and warehouse employees
Your Qualifications
As an experienced people leader in an assembly or manufacturing environment, you have a demonstrated ability to maintain a safe and positive work environment while enhancing efficiency. You are able to organize, mentor, and motivate a production team to achieve their highest potential and to do so in a safe manner. You can see how operations fit together to form the bigger picture, and this combined with your excellent communication skills enable you to coordinate critical business information between various stakeholders in a timely manner. Furthermore, you can plan several weeks in advance, and are comfortable interpreting operational and financial data to make informed decisions.
Your qualifications include:
- High school diploma or equivalent coupled with progressive learning (development, formal training, etc.)
- Additional education is considered an asset
- 5 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing/assembly environment
- Good computer literacy skills
- Excellent oral and written communications skills
- Great analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to problem solve, make decisions, and troubleshoot
- Ability to work under tight timelines and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to build consensus among staff and team-build
