About Strescon Limited
Established in 1963, Strescon Limited has grown to become the largest precast, pre-stressed concrete manufacturer in Eastern Canada. Its primary market covers the Atlantic Provinces, the New England region of the United States, and Bermuda. Strescon manufactures a wide range of both architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete products including bridge girders, wall panels, complete parking garages, hollow-core planking, piling and deck slabs. Strescon presently has two facilities: 70,000 sq. ft. in Saint John, New Brunswick and 50,000 sq. ft. In Bedford, Nova Scotia.
In addition to our engineered precast facilities for custom components, Strescon also operates a 32,000 sq. ft. facility in Saint John which manufactures standard concrete products for engineered drainage systems, such as pipe, manholes and catch basins.
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Plant Engineer, the Assistant Plant Engineer helps oversee and aids with task distribution, and training within production, carpentry, inventory, steel, and maintenance departments. This position will work in collaboration with other departments to confirm alignment is maintained with company goals and mandates.
The successful candidate is someone who demonstrates strong critical thinking skills, has the ability to monitor schedules, understand software (i.e., Microsoft Suite applications, JD Edwards, etc.), develop detailed reports, and maintaining quality assurance standards.
This position requires a strong understanding of operations, in addition to, a desire to develop and maintain strong relationships within a diverse workforce.
Responsibilities
  • Ensuring all costs stay within the allocated budget
  • Ensure Asset Management Plans are followed
  • Participating in various learning experiences, which may include attending workshops and training sessions
  • Helping oversee planning and execution of all processes within the plant consisting of various precast/pre-stressed concrete products
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Help manage inventory control of raw materials and finished products
  • Involvement with plant certifications
  • Share knowledge with others to assist in promoting a better-trained workforce
  • Other duties as assigned

Technical Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Ability to learn Google SketchUp and Tekla, with exposure to other engineering related software
