Job Description
What you can expect in a typical day :
A s a summer student with Irving Oil you will have an opportunity to learn in a collaborative environment with one of Canada's Top 100 employers! I n this role with the Process Safety team at the Saint John Refinery , you will play a major role in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) where we assess risk in the operations of the Refinery. Y ou will prepare for and participate in the PHA sessions , while assisting with overall facilitation.
Following the sessions, you will be responsible for prepar ing the PHA reports, communicat ing the risks and recommendations to the risk owners , and issu ing final reports and a ctions. The role is primarily office based ; however, you will develop a great understanding of our Refinery 's operations.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Self-motivated; ability to work independently
  • Ability to work within a team environment and meet deadline s

Professional s kills:
  • Safety conscious; follow procedures accurately
  • Knowledge of MS Office
  • Experience with Excel is an asset
  • Valid Canadian driver's license

  • Travel is not a requirement for this role

Education and experience :
  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary engineering program with a focus in Chemical Engineering
  • Must have completed at least one year of post-secondary education and be returning to school in the Fall 2023
