The Belledune Port Authority (BPA) is currently seeking a Maintenance Lead to join the diverse and growing team at the Port of Belledune! The incumbent would report directly to the Director of Operations and leads the maintenance team for the day-to-day maintenance needs of the Belledune Port Authority (BPA) and all port facilities (Administration Building, Marine Terminals, and other BPA properties) including, general repairs, equipment and systems inspections and testing, maintenance, painting, cleaning, carpentry, snow removal, lawn care and janitorial duties of the administration building and other BPA buildings as required.

Responsibilities

FACILITIES MANAGEMENT & CLEANING

· Maintains port facilities as required, including but not limited to, general repairs, maintenance, painting, cleaning, carpentry, snow removal, janitorial duties, maintaining HVAC system, first aid kit inspections, vehicle inspections, fire extinguishers and janitorial duties of the administration building and other BPA facilities.

· Keeps all areas of the Port Administration building including the kitchen, offices, meeting rooms, reception area, bathrooms, storage and work rooms, and corridors neat and clean at all times.

· Secures and sets alarm for the Port office building.

· Maintains an inventory of cleaning supplies and kitchen supplies, reporting shortages to the Supervisor.

· Keeps the BPA garage, associated buildings and storage buildings neat and clean at all times and ensures all garbage and recyclables are stored safely or disposed of.

MAINTENANCE, REPAIR & INSPECTIONS

· Maintains, in collaboration with the Supervisor, an inventory of tools and supplies required for the efficient and effective maintenance of the Port on a regular basis.

· Performs minor repairs and maintenance to port buildings.

· Follows the direction of the Supervisor, to provide direction and supervise contractors with regards to maintenance work.

· Ensures Port vehicles and equipment are inspected on a scheduled basis and reports all findings to the Supervisor.

· May be required to fill in forms and reports on status of inspections and repairs.

· Ensures proper operation of all access gates and related access control to the port terminals, reporting any variances or issue to the supervisor

· Performs weekly inspections of port building on terminals and properties.

· Performs seasonal "Start Ups" and "shut downs" on weather sensitive systems

· Collaborates with supervisor to guarantee the continued operation of out door lighting, CCTV cameras, fixtures, signage etc.

ADVISORY

· Acts as a resource person in emergency situations as directed by the supervisor

· Reports any systems or assets on or adjacent to the Port's property that are not functioning properly.

· Participates in port events and special projects as requested.

· Ensures that the Supervisor is kept well informed on current and potential repairs and maintenance issues.

· Oversees work of assigned maintenance team employees

Qualifications

· Successful completion of high school or equivalent

· Demonstrated knowledge and application of principles of facility and systems maintenance

· Experience and/or training in carpentry, maintenance, electrical, construction, plumbing, custodial services, or allied trades preferred

· Effective oral and written communication skills (French considered an asset)

· The ideal candidate will possess leadership skills, autonomy, punctuality and reliability

· Good knowledge of basic office software (Word, PDF) and technology (laptop, tablet, smart phone)

· Possess a valid NB driver's license (class 5 minimum)

· First aid Training, CPR, WHMIS and knowledge of safe work practices considered an asset

· Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time

· Must be prepared to submit to a security check and be bondable

Work With Us

This position requires the incumbent to work inside and outside at Port facilities in all kinds of weather, with normal business interruptions expected. Due to the nature of this position there may be extra hours of work required above the normal work day. As a component of this position, some physically demanding work may be required including, standing, bending, occasional lifting and or carrying of heavy objects, doing repetitive tasks, and so forth.
