Manager, Corporate Secretariat

Fortis Inc. is seeking a Manager, Corporate Secretariat at its head office in St. John's, NL.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Key liaison with the Fortis Inc. Board of Directors and executive team
  • Schedule and attend Fortis Inc. Board and Committee meetings
  • Coordinate and distribute Board and Committee meeting materials and prepare Board and Committee meeting minutes
  • Liaise with service providers, proxy advisors, transfer agent, trustees as necessary
  • Member of the legal team, reporting to the Vice President, General Counsel

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Understanding of governance practices, board administration and corporate reporting
  • Excellent coordination, prioritization and follow-up skills
  • Proactive, detail-oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines

Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years practical work experience in a corporate secretary role, administrative or similar role
  • Experience in governance, board administration and managing corporate filings
  • Undergraduate degree in a business-related discipline or experience in the field of business law is preferred
  • Experience working with a private or publicly traded company
  • Experience with board management software (such as Diligent software) is an asset
