Job Description
What you can expect in a typical day:
Working under general supervision, this role supports Irving Oil's success by providing ongoing case management of Short-Term Disability, Long Term Disability, and/or Worker's Compensation claims.

Your roles and responsibilities:
  • Facilitate all aspects of the disability management processes including short and long-term disability, workers compensation, EI, Sick, accommodation and return to work.
  • Support employees and leaders through all stages of the disability process.
  • Coordinate the process and subsequent placement of employees with accommodations and/or permanent placements.
  • Responsible for gathering and maintaining statistics and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in problem solving and addressing and resolving escalations.
  • Help employees understand programs by establishing education/communications channels, including announcements, booklets and pamphlets.
  • Triage claims as necessary to assess rehabilitation potential and to develop case management plans.
  • Ensure compliance with recommendations and participation with rehabilitation interventions.
  • Initiate assessments such as independent medical examinations, functional capacity examinations or surveillance when necessary.
  • Clear and comprehensive ongoing written and verbal communication with claimants, employers, physicians, treatment providers, internal staff, brokers, third party administrators, lawyers and other parties such as WCB and CPP.

  • High initiative and ability to prioritize and multi-task while meeting tight deadlines, and effectively manage relationships while being flexible and adaptable.

Travel:
  • Travel is not a requirement for this position.

Education and Experience:
  • A minimum of three years disability management experience.
  • Previously demonstrated coordination and management of complex cases.
  • Disability Management certification is an asset, or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Proficiency in English and French communication is an asset.
  • U.S. case management experience considered an asset.
