Able Equipment Limited, founded in 1974, is now Able Infrastructure and is a well-known leader in the Maritime Provinces construction industry.

They are specialists in the Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional sector and have a Heavy Highway Structural Division that are both growing.

This opportunity is a unionized position and would require becoming a member of UBC Local 83 Carpenters Union.

Able is looking for a skilled Carpenter with a minimum of 2 years of experience in concrete work. Project work involves but is not limited to concrete footings, foundation walls, etc.

Experience:

Construction: 2 years (Preferred)

Carpentry: 2 years (Preferred)

Language:

English (Required)

Responsibilities

Job Duties:

Prepare and erect structural formwork for concrete foundations

Build and set footings

Construct suspended slab and erect columns

Form concrete stairs

Build retaining walls

Erect scaffold and related support

Qualifications

Ideal Qualifications:

Strong work ethic, positive attitude with team player focus

Willingness to learn and improve skills in the concrete construction trade

Ability to use a variety of power tools

Ability to read/interpret drawings and blueprints

Valid transportation

Qualifications:

Carpenter journeyman and/or a minimum of two years concrete forming experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.

Knowledge of building construction means and methods.

Knowledge of Tabla, Peri and other modular forming systems are an asset.

Former Bridge work considered an asset.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Performing this job requires handling of objects, tools or controls, the ability to sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Employee must occasionally lift and/or move heavy weight. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
