Midland Transport is currently seeking a Master Data Steward based at our Head Office location in Dieppe, NB. In this role, you will establish trust in data by instituting and operationalizing a cohesive master data management strategy for Midland Transport.
What You Will Do:
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the Data Governance Assessment, Framework, and Operationalization Roadmap for Midland's Master Data Areas
  • Work with the Business and IT together to ensure Master Data guidelines/metadata management/data maintenance processes are established, clearly documented, and followed
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts and data stewards to define and implement data strategy, policies, controls, and programs to ensure that the enterprise data is accurate, complete, secure, and reliable
  • Responsible for delivery and reporting of MDM KPIs, including volume, accuracy, and timelines
  • Lead day-to-day workload ensuring Service Level Agreements are met
  • Ensure compliance and security of the data. Responsible for protecting data while providing information on potential risks and offering regulatory guidance
  • Identify areas for data quality improvements and help to resolve data quality problems through the appropriate choice of error detection and correction, process control and improvement, or process design strategies
  • Actively participate in Midland's ongoing business improvement projects and/or initiatives as a subject matter expert

Who You Are:
  • You have a Post-secondary education in Information Management, (Technical) Business Administration
  • You have a minimum of 5 years of work experience in Business Analytics, Data Governance, and/or Master Data Management; preferably within the transportation industry
  • You have a strategic mindset. A thoughtful decision-maker who can bring actionable and grounded recommendations to senior leadership
  • You have an understanding of the importance of change management in the implementation of Data Governance/MDM strategies
  • You have an understanding of the impact and consequences of Master Data decisions on the business
  • You have experience working in an agile IT environment and solving challenges for Master Data Management, data quality problems within complex data integration structures
  • You are a self-starter with a keen interest in business processes, and technology and motivated towards building a culture of data as a critical asset mindset
  • You are detail-oriented and possess excellent organizational/communications skills
