JUNIOR PROJECT CONTROL SPECIALIST
Located at 3099 Barrington Street in Halifax, Nova Scotia, B3K 5M7 or 35 Mic Mac Boulevard, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, B3A 4Y8, Irving Shipbuilding has a proud history as Canada's shipbuilder. Since 2012, we have invested more than $400 million in facilities, people, processes, and technology, making Halifax Shipyard one of the most modern and capable shipyards in the world. Over the next 30 years our shipbuilders will construct 23 modern patrol ships and surface combatants for the Royal Canadian Navy as part of Canada's National Shipbuilding Strategy, the largest defence procurement in Canadian history. This year, we delivered the lead Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship, the largest Navy ship built in Canada in 50 years. And we're just getting started.

This is a permanent, full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Performance Cost Control activities for assigned WBS's
  • Maintain staff management plan within cost management system
  • Work closely with Project Management and CAM's to ensure Cost, Actuals, Earned Value, and Forecasts are accurately being reported
  • Periodically validate interfaces with cost management system
  • Perform change management (scope, non-scope)
  • Budget tracking against purchase orders to ensure no over committing
  • Assign earning rules for each progressable activity
  • Challenge and validate reported progress
  • Analyze and prepare variance reports
  • Prepare month end package for review and approval from management
  • Communicate and advise on cost projections
  • Responsible for ensuring quality check on project controls deliverables
  • Execute month end close activities
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education required
  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Must be proficient in the use of MS office products (Excel, Project, Words, Etc)
  • Must be proficient in the use of Primavera and Ecosys or equivalent
  • 1-3 years experience in Project Controls experience within a major project environment is considered an assett
