Health, Safety & Environment Specialist
Cavendish Agri Services supports farmers in growing healthy and productive crops. We have manufacturing/retail locations throughout the Maritimes. Our primary products include fertilizers, crop protectants and technical expertise.
Reporting to the Corporate Director of Health, Safety and Environment the HS&E Specialist will ensure compliance with applicable legislation and company standards within Cavendish Agri Services. The HS&E Specialist will facilitate the engagement of the appropriate stakeholders and departments.
Successful Candidate will possess the following qualifications:
  • A certified Occupational Health and Safety designation, such as CRSP, CHSC, CHSE, or equivalent and/or 3 to 5 years' experience in the Occupational Health and Safety field.
  • Experience in training and regulatory compliance.
  • An established Health and Safety background with experience conducting Incident Investigations, Hazard Assessments, developing JHA's, SOP's and Safety Training Programs would be considered an asset.
  • Very strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage team members and build strong relationships with site staff.
  • Very strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft products as well as safety management systems.
  • Experience in an agricultural environment will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong time management skills.
  • A passion for our business and the well-being of our people.
  • Regular traveling within the Maritime provinces will be required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform regular site inspections and work with site staff to improve the safety culture and safety awareness at all sites.
  • Initiate, develop, coordinate, and prioritize various site safety and training projects/initiative.
  • Facilitate the training associated with new safety procedures and programs.
  • Ensure the required safety and training documentation is maintained.
  • Deliver progress reports and presentations on the various safety projects and training initiatives.
  • Active participation on safety committee(s) and lead regular safety meetings.
  • Assist or lead corporate safety initiatives as required.
