Data Analyst
J.D. Irving, Limited Sawmill Division is currently seeking a motivated individual for the role of Data Analyst located in Saint John, N.B.
Sawmill Division currently operates nine Sawmills, two solid wood value added centers, one pellet plant and one peat and soil bagging facility. These facilities are located in NB, NS and the state of Maine. The Sawmill Division employs 1400 people and is currently the 5th largest lumber producer in Canada. It is a key part of the J.D. Irving, Limited forest products value chain.
The Role:
As a collaborative member of the Data Analytics team, the Data Analyst will work closely with business stakeholders to develop and maintain data, analytics, and reporting solutions. Employing their skills to ensure data solutions are timely, accurate, and of high quality across the operations, the successful candidate will play a key role in surfacing data driven insights to inform business decisions. Excellent communication skills, solutions focus and technical expertise will be key factors for success.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement and maintain a purchased divisional data catalog solution to improve data accessibility and understanding
  • Facilitate the migration from PI ProcessBook to PI Vision for operational data visualization
  • Manage and validate data being displayed throughout the operations
  • Maintain Tableau Server dashboards
  • Assist in the migration from Cognos reporting to Tableau
  • Perform data preparation tasks for use in advanced analytics

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Finance or Computer Science
  • Fluency in data blending and cleansing techniques
  • Proficiency in Data Visualization and dashboard creation
  • Familiarity with common database systems and structures
  • UI/UX Design focused
  • Knowledge or experience in 1 or more of the following: Alteryx, Cognos, Tableau, Azure Analytics stack, SLQ, R, Python
  • Customer-focused, results driven team player
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level or professionalism, accuracy and detail
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to engage stakeholders at various organization levels
