The Maritime College of Forest Technology (MCFT) was established in 1946 primarily to retrain and reintegrate returning World War II Veterans into the workforce. Who We Are Looking For:
MCFT is seeking a dynamic and self-motivated individual to join the Faculty Team at the Bathurst Campus. Reporting to the Academic Chair, the Academic Instructor will contribute to educating, training, mentoring and preparing students for the transition to enter a natural resources related profession.
What You Will Do:
The Academic Instructor will be responsible for course content, delivery and evaluation; planning and preparing instructional materials for both classroom and field lectures; providing a professional and positive learning environment for all students; encouraging and assisting students to achieve their educational goals. Field related instruction and/or assistance will require ability to work in both remote and physically demanding conditions. As a member of the Faculty Team, the Academic Instructor will be required to assist, when required, in the delivery of additional courses related to the curriculum and compliment a team-oriented, fast-paced, work environment.
Required education include a Diploma in Forest Technology, Bachelor of Science Forestry or any natural resources related field of study including Biology, Ecology or Environmental Science and a minimum of five (5) years' experience in the related designation.
Applicants must have an operating knowledge of technologies used in today's natural resource sectors including work experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Forest and Fish & Wildlife Ecology
- Forest Harvesting
- Forest Measurements
- Forest Roads
- Wildfire Management
- Wildlife Management
- Confident Leadership
- Passionate Instructing/Tutoring
- Effective Communication
- Effective Computer Application & Field-Based Geomatics
Written and spoken competence in French is essential. Candidates selected for the interview process will be required to demonstrate teaching abilities in French.
Valid Class 4 Drivers License issued by the Province of New Brunswick.
- Instructing at a post-secondary level.
- Training or coaching.
- In forest fire protection and/or management.
- In industrial forestry operations.
- In forest health (i.e. Insects and Disease) and associated technology.
Preference may be given to those candidates with experience working in a post-secondary environment.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
