We are looking for a qualified Technical Translation Specialist for our Dartmouth, NS office.
The Technical Translation Specialist will be responsible for translation and for certifying the accuracy and adequacy of technical translations to ensure the translation is correct and can be used without error to perform the functions intended. They are familiar with engineering technical documentation and the Canadian Department of National Defence, including their terminology and phraseology. They will provide the company with professional advice on all issues related to the technical accuracy check (TACT) of the documents by conducting expert appraisals. They are familiar with the S1000D suite of standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Bachelor of Arts Degree with focus in Translation and/or Certificate in translation from a recognized post-secondary institution
    • Note: Acceptable combinations of education/work experience will also be considered.
  • Translation Certification registered with CTTIC in home province
  • 2-5 years of experience in technical translation
  • Experienced with S1000D suite of standards
  • Experience in 3 or more of the following areas:
    • Translating government publications
    • Revising administrative and specialized texts translated from English into French
    • Proofreading and editing in English and French
    • Standardizing content, terminology, and graphic presentation
    • Using reference works and electronic tools for the purposes of editing and translating
    • Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian government security clearances

Key Responsibilities & Outcomes:
  • Performing translation of technical documentation from English to French.
  • Partnering with Fleetway's Senior Management Team to develop a profitable translation capability centered around S1000D compliant computer enabled translation in an Integrated Data Environment.
  • Acting as a liaison with the customer to ensure all translation work meets customer requirements. This can include performing the translation, subcontracting for the translation, and working to develop the required translation team and tools.
