QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR - Electrical
Located at 3099 Barrington Street in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, B3K 5M7, and 35 Micmac Boulevard, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, B3A4Y8, Irving Shipbuilding has a proud history as Canada's shipbuilder. Since 2012, we have invested more than $400 million in facilities, people, processes, and technology, making Halifax Shipyard one of the most modern and capable shipyards in North America. Over the next 30 years our shipbuilders will construct 20 modern patrol ships and surface combatants for the Royal Canadian Navy as part of Canada's National Shipbuilding Strategy, the largest defence procurement in Canadian history. This year, we delivered the lead Arctic and Offshore Patrol Ship, the largest Navy ship built in Canada in 50 years and we're just getting started. The second ship will be delivered in 2021.

Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking a Quality Control Inspector, Electrical.
This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English.
Qualifications:
  • Education Required: Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
  • Industrial/Construction Electrician trade certification (Red Seal/Journeyperson)
  • Years of Experience Required: 3-5 years
  • Prior knowledge of shipbuilding or civil construction products and /or inspection process is preferred
  • Ability to work independently and perform multiple tasks
  • Ability to deal with conflict in a Professional manner
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions in a fast paced manufacturing environment
  • Ability to learn and use specialized software for collection of inspection reports and metrics
  • Must be able to inspect in difficult and confined areas IE: tanks ,Voids, Ladders, Condo lifts, ETC for extended periods
    All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
    Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide oversight on quality of various products manufactured by Irving ship building
  • Interact with Production Supervision and other customers both internal and external on quality issues.
  • Generate and maintain the quality records in support of the Inspection and Test Plan
  • Read and interpret production drawings and specifications - to identify quality requirements
  • Co-ordinate cable testing and verification actions for ships electrical and combat systems
  • Understanding of electrical installation and routing requirement
  • Work with Production staff to include conduct inspections, including in confined spaces and aloft
  • Support customer inspections
  • Document any Non-conformances in the NCR database
