Assistant Controller - Corporate Services (Saint John office)

We are seeking a self-motivated, goal-oriented accounting professional who will act as the Assistant Controller within the Corporate Services Division. This position will assist in continuing to provide the requisite level of rigour and oversight for accounting operations, payroll, budgeting, forecasting, reporting processes, and financial system management.

The successful incumbent will have a particular focus on continuous process improvement and building efficiencies throughout the accounting function and project management. This position also ensures that accounting practices and procedures conform to Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Commission policies, directives, and expectations.

This position reports directly to the Director, Corporate Services in the Saint John office.

You are well organized, can handle competing demands while achieving deadlines and enjoy a variety of work challenges. You possess excellent oral and written communications skills and strong analytical skills. You are able to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Other qualifications include:

  • University degree and professional accounting designation with demonstrated competence in a similar position;
  • 7-10 years of relevant, practical experience with an in-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and auditing standards is required;
  • Preparation of financial reports and analysis for management;
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience in Change and Project Management
  • Time management skills to balance competing interests;
  • A high degree of attention to detail;
  • Very good communication skills, both oral and written;
  • Strong planning and computer skills are required.
