The Province of New Brunswick would like to establish an inventory of qualified candidates to fill current and future vacancies. Executive Council Office, Corporate Communications Division is seeking individuals to join the Digital Communications Branch in Fredericton as:

  1. Digital Communications Officer - Social Media
  2. Digital Communications Officer - Photographer
  3. Digital Communications Officer - Videographer

As a member of the Digital Communications team, you will be responsible to provide strategic advice and daily content for the branch, its client departments and agencies.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

1. Digital Communications Officer - Social Media

  • Understanding the value, purpose and best application of all corporate digital channels, including social media and web to deliver an integrated communication experience.
  • Providing strategic advice to departments on the creation and placement of social media content (video, photo, graphics, bilingual posts, etc.), including the coordination and implementation of larger-scale social media plans.
  • Developing, creating and publishing daily social media content in both official languages as part of an overall social media editorial calendar.
  • Monitoring social media channels and engaging with the public in both official languages with an exceptional level of customer service.
  • Providing regular analytics reports on overall performance and issues using various tools. 
  • Scheduling paid social media content, monitoring performance and providing analytics reports for social media ad campaigns.

2. Digital Communications Officer - Photographer

  • Understanding the value, purpose and best application of all corporate digital channels, including social media and web to deliver an integrated communication experience.
  • Providing advice to departments on creating compelling photo content.
  • Photographing government announcements and events. Travel is required.
  • Supporting day-to-day photo and editing needs.
  • Delivering cohesive visual aesthetic for photography across digital platforms.
  • Producing and sourcing photographs for marketing and communications needs.
  • Maintaining and backing up photo files, including publishing photos as needed to corporate photo galleries.

3. Digital Communications Officer - Videographer

  • Understanding the value, purpose and best application of all corporate digital channels, including social media and web to deliver an integrated communication experience.
  • Providing advice to departments on creating compelling, shareable short-form video content.
  • Recording government announcements and events, including conducting live broadcasts of news events and online engagement sessions as needed. Travel is required.
  • Supporting day-to-day video and editing needs.
  • Delivering cohesive visual aesthetic for video across social platforms.
  • Planning and/or production of creative assets (video, animation and photography) for marketing and communications needs.
  • Maintaining and backing up video files, including publishing and removing on corporate channels.

Positions 2 and 3 may also be responsible for:

  • Developing, creating and publishing daily social media content in both official languages as part of an overall social media editorial calendar.
  • Monitoring social media channels and engaging with the public in both official languages while providing an exceptional level of customer service.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: University degree or college diploma in multimedia/social media design, graphic design, videography, photography or a related discipline and at least 2-3 years of related experience.

Subject to the response to this competition, an equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered, or the required years of experience may be increased.

Some positions require written and spoken competence in French and English. Others will require written and spoken competence in English or in French. Please state your language capability on your application.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS: Preference may be given to candidates who demonstrate the following asset qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in multimedia/social media design and project management.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere, Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Experience publishing content to social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and others
  • Experience monitoring online conversations to provide insight into public opinion, trends or issues
  • Experience using Final Cut, or other video editing programs
  • Experience using photographic equipment (camera, lights, photo editing software)

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications to be given further consideration.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

This position will require limited flexibility in working hours, with occasional weekday evening or weekend work. 

On occasion, some travel throughout the province may be required.

Salary: $49,374 - $69,056 annually
