What you can expect in a typical day
As a Mechanical Engineer supporting Canada's largest oil refinery and our terminal network, you will work closely with our operations and technical teams to ensure process units within our plant are working safely, reliably, and to maximum productivity. This position spends a considerable amount of time in the field working with engineering, operations, and other teams to resolve issues including both repairs and new installations.
Responsibilities
  • Provide technical direction and solutions to problems including detailed repair plans.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to provide input for risk assessment for design and execution.
  • Participate in and support various types of investigation including RCA (root cause analysis).
  • Provide technical expertise for both maintenance and capital projects.
  • Provide technical support for annual turnarounds.
  • Provide regular reporting on repair or outage plans for various units including pressure vessels.
  • Work with teams to provide technical expertise on our tank programs.
  • Ensure all assets are maintained according to all applicable codes and standards.
  • Plan and prioritize to make timely decisions on projects; manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures

You must be comfortable with high elevation climbing, working at heights, and in enclosed spaces. You must be able to wear full PPE as required by safety standards.

Travel
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Education and experience
  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience with ASME and / or API codes is an asset.
  • Experience working on-site in refining operations is an asset.
  • Experience working with heavy equipment an asset.
  • PEng certification required.
