What you can expect in a typical day
Does the idea of standing up a work processes and standards program for a new, centralized engineering team excite you? If so, this could be a great opportunity for you to become our new Engineering Work Processes and Standards Lead. You will develop and maintain the engineering work processes, procedures, and standards necessary to ensure consistency in capital projects and adherence to any relevant company, industry, and jurisdictional regulatory requirements and applicable standards (e.g. API, ASME, etc.). With numerous capital projects each year, a global supply chain, multiple locations, and diverse project stakeholders, a robust processes and standards program is essential for our business.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of processes and standards for a multi-disciplined engineering team dedicated to capital projects.
  • Work with leaders in Engineering Services Team to develop, maintain, and communicate roles and responsibilities within Engineering Services.
  • Work with key stakeholders to develop, maintain, and ensure clarity in roles and responsibilities among the various functions and roles involved in capital projects.
  • Support the development, continuous improvement, reporting and external benchmarking of capital project engineering development key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Leverage KPIs to inform continuous improvement of engineering work processes, procedures, and standards.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders in Project Execution and Supply Management teams to ensure alignment and integration with Engineering, Project Execution and Supply Management work processes and procedures to avoid silos and overlap where applicable.
  • Provide QA / QC through periodic reviews, updates, and revisions, to maintain integrity of the program.
  • Obtain approval and consensus on the standards and processes that will be used and followed.
  • Ensure teams have access to properly documented requirements and designated processes is critical for safety, regulatory compliance, and company success. 
  • Share documents across departments for review.
  • Work with Document Management to ensure all documentation is accessible when and as needed.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Research and remain current on industry best practices for the delivery of capital projects to inform potential updates for engineering work processes, procedures, and standards.
  • Good familiarity with applicable codes, e.g. ASME, API, CSA, and PIP.
  • Strong knowledge of regulations and compliance requirements in various jurisdictions.
  • Strong oral and written communications.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong collaboration skills.

Travel
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Education and experience
  • University degree in engineering; any discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in capital project development.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in work process development and mapping.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with technical writing.
  • Project Management experience is a definite asset.
  • Six Sigma certification an asset.
  • PEng designation an asset.
