The Regional Director of Medical Services works directly with the VP Medical Services, Chiefs of Staff and Chiefs of Discipline of Labrador Grenfell Health's medical staff to provide direction and leadership to three Hospitals, four Health Centers, three Long Term Care Centers in matters concerning physician services.

Qualifications:

  • The minimum qualifications for this position are graduation from an approved university with a degree in Commerce, Business Administration or health related discipline;
  • Five years experience in Human Resources management;
  • Knowledge of Medical Services and Immigration processing as it relates to recruitment would be an asset;
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered;
  • The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.

Duties (include but not limited to):

  • Organizes, develops and leads an effective management team for Medical Services;
  • Assumes direct responsibility for supervision of managers and administrative staff within Medical Services;
  • Responsible, with the VP Medical Services and Chiefs of Staff/Chiefs of Discipline, for the recruitment, hiring and credentialing of medical staff;
  • Manages the day to day operation of services within the Medical Services office. Provides direction to medical services staff, responds to inquiries as appropriate and coordinates overall activities;
  • Ensures performance appraisals (PA's) are completed on all managers and administrative staff of the Medical Services Office and supports the VP Medical Services in completion of PA's for Physician Leaders;
  • Provides operational support and direction for physician leaders in the daily supervision and management of physicians. This includes but is not limited to development of staff schedules and staffing guidelines, performance management, discipline, hiring, and approval of leave;
  • Oversees the coordination and scheduling of physicians by Discipline and ensures appropriate physician coverage.
  • Ensures the provision of high-quality medical care through the implementation of the standardized approach to credentialing and privileging of physicians consistent with Medical Staff Bylaws;
  • Provides leadership and guidance to VP Medical Services and Physician Leaders on operational issues and administrative concerns facing their respective disciplines and related to human resources, recruitment/retention, contract issues, policy, etc.;
  • Develops, implements and evaluates policy and procedures on a regional level. Including, but not limited to physician human resource policies and processes within the organization;
  • Develops, implements and evaluates a performance management model for physicians which includes annual physician performance audits and address physician performance concerns;
  • Participates in appropriate medical staff activities and is involved in committees such as Regional Medical Advisory Committee, Credentials Committee, and when required Local Medical Advisory Committees;
  • Other related duties.

Salary:

  • Salary for this position is in accordance with the Hay Management Pay Plan.

Hours of Work:

  • 75 hours biweekly (Monday - Friday).
