Director of Supply Chain Management

We are looking for a Director of Supply Chain Management who will be based in the greater Saint John area, New Brunswick and will report to the Chief Financial Officer. As the Director of Supply Chain Management, you will be responsible to plan, organize, direct, manage and evaluate strategic procurement activities for WorkSafeNB.

Your key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Provide leadership, expertise, mentorship, coaching and development opportunities to the Supply Chain Management team to enhance departmental performance and to enable achievement of individual accountabilities
  • Provide leadership by developing and implementing robust operating plans for the supply chain area that are consistent with and aligned to the overall strategic agenda of WorkSafeNB
  • Establish and develop a culture within the Supply Chain Management department of continuous improvement with a persistent drive for excellence
  • Provide education and communication WorkSafeNB-wide on the various initiatives, legislative standards or policy compliance required as an entity under public procurement practices
  • Ensure consistent and regular open and transparent communication to all levels of management and other staff on key procurement activities and expectations
  • Develop and manage relationships with external agencies, and government organizations, to build business partnerships and to share best practices and policies in supply chain services

As an ideal candidate you possess:

  • University degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of supply chain management experience, with 3- 5 years of demonstrated success in team leadership 
  • Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA) certification or equivalent certification
  • Public Procurement Experience

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Proficiency in English, written and spoken, is required.

About WorkSafeNB

Organization

WorkSafeNB administers no-fault workplace accident and disability insurance for employers and their workers, funded solely through assessments on employers. All employers having three or more workers are obligated to obtain compensation coverage.

WorkSafeNB is committed to preventing workplace injuries and illness through education and enforcement of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

WorkSafeNB is administered by a board of directors consisting of the chairperson, a vice-chairperson, the president and CEO (non-voting member), the chairperson of the Appeals Tribunal (non-voting member), five members representing workers, and five members representing employers. Other than the president & CEO and the chairperson of the Appeals Tribunal, members of the board of directors serve part-time.

WorkSafeNB's mandate is to:

  • Promote the creation of a workplace safety culture in which all employees and employers view all occupational diseases and accidents as being preventable.
  • Promote an understanding, acceptance, and compliance with all legislation for which WorkSafeNB is responsible, including the enforcement of the OHS Act and regulations.
  • Provide timely compensation benefits, medical aid, rehabilitation, and safe return-to-work services to injured workers.
  • Provide sustainable insurance and insurance-related services to the employer community.
  • Represent stakeholders and provide recommendations and advice to government with respect to legislation, and publish such reports, studies, and recommendations WorkSafeNB considers advisable.

Assessments are affected by the level of activities in the province's workplaces, as are the resulting claims. There are also substantial assets that ensure WorkSafeNB will be able to provide the ongoing benefits promised to injured workers through a wage loss recovery insurance system. These funds are invested in the financial markets and investment returns are subject to the ups and downs of the marketplace.

WorkSafeNB's head office is located in Saint John. The WorkSafeNB Rehabilitation Centre is located in Grand Bay-Westfield. We also have offices in Bathurst, Grand Falls and Dieppe.
