Enterprise Information Security Officer (EISO)

We are looking for an Enterprise Information Security Officer (EISO) who will be based in Saint John, New Brunswick and will report to the Chief Information Officer. As the Enterprise Information Security Officer you will oversee the protection of corporate data, technical infrastructure, and corporate assets from cyber threats to minimize risk to WorkSafeNB. 

Your key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Leadership of the Information Security team 
  • Implementation of an organization-wide Information Security Management System (ISMS) to ensure the safeguarding of corporate data, infrastructure, and assets from cyber threats
  • Building and maintaining an appropriate disaster recovery plan 
  • Building and maintaining Incident Response and Data Breach Response plans and processes 
  • Provide regular reporting on security metrics as well as overall health of information security at WSNB to the CIO
  • Building and maintaining a Security Awareness Training and Education (SATE) program for WorkSafeNB that will provide security awareness for all levels of the organization and that is measurable with regard to its effectiveness
  • Building and maintaining security controls within the ISMS

You will have demonstrated abilities in the following competencies:

As an ideal candidate you possess:

  • University degree in Computer Science or Information Security
  • Certifications in security and privacy such as CISSP, C|CISO, CISM, CRISC, ISO27001 Implementer, GIAC, CBCP, and CIPP/C
  • Minimum of 7 years of applied information security experience, with at least 5 years in a lead role 
  • Knowledge of IT systems, applications and infrastructure 
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with all levels of an organization 

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Proficiency in English, written and spoken, is required. French language proficiency is an asset.

WorkSafeNB administers no-fault workplace accident and disability insurance for employers and their workers, funded solely through assessments on employers. All employers having three or more workers are obligated to obtain compensation coverage.

WorkSafeNB is committed to preventing workplace injuries and illness through education and enforcement of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

WorkSafeNB is administered by a board of directors consisting of the chairperson, a vice-chairperson, the president and CEO (non-voting member), the chairperson of the Appeals Tribunal (non-voting member), five members representing workers, and five members representing employers. Other than the president & CEO and the chairperson of the Appeals Tribunal, members of the board of directors serve part-time.

WorkSafeNB's mandate is to:

  • Promote an understanding, acceptance, and compliance with all legislation for which WorkSafeNB is responsible, including the enforcement of the OHS Act and regulations.
  • Provide timely compensation benefits, medical aid, rehabilitation, and safe return-to-work services to injured workers.
  • Provide sustainable insurance and insurance-related services to the employer community.
  • Represent stakeholders and provide recommendations and advice to government with respect to legislation, and publish such reports, studies, and recommendations WorkSafeNB considers advisable.

Assessments are affected by the level of activities in the province's workplaces, as are the resulting claims. There are also substantial assets that ensure WorkSafeNB will be able to provide the ongoing benefits promised to injured workers through a wage loss recovery insurance system. These funds are invested in the financial markets and investment returns are subject to the ups and downs of the marketplace.

WorkSafeNB's head office is located in Saint John. The WorkSafeNB Rehabilitation Centre is located in Grand Bay-Westfield. We also have offices in Bathurst, Grand Falls and Dieppe.
