We are looking to add an experienced Junior or Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to our team. The Junior/Intermediate Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the coordination and execution of equipment development and project support activities within the Mechanical group. The primary activities include the design and documentation of mechanical components, systems and electromechanical equipment for automated systems.

With experience, the Junior/Intermediate Mechanical Engineer will take on more responsibility within projects, working more independently, reflecting own initiative and judgement.

Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of a senior engineer, the successful candidate will: work on projects of varying sizes and complexity; learn to evaluate and select mechanical and electro-mechanical devices and systems; perform product development activities including drawing layouts and interpretation; implement customer specifications and documentation requirements; conduct engineering studies, and perform field work requiring travel. In addition, the Junior/Intermediate Mechanical Engineer may provide management assistance, liasing between the Client and Project Manager or more Senior Engineering staff.

Qualifications
  • BSc. Mechanical Engineering
  • Direct work experience demonstrating mechanical design knowledge and problem-solving skilss of electromechanical equipment, mechanisms and precision equipment.
  • Direct project experience in a manufacturing environment would be an asset.
  • Work experience in Food and Beverage manufacturing environments is an assest
  • Currently enrolled, or eligible to register, as a Professional Engineer with Engineers NS.
  • Fluent use of AutoCAD and SolidWorks software is essential
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with GD&T; CSA and ANSI drawing standards
  • Solid background in machine design as it relates to bearings, sprockets, valves, motors, cylinders etc
  • Ability to integrate new technologies into machines to ensure that the organization is meeting its high quality goals and objectives
  • Knowledge of pneumatic system components and creation of schematices
  • Practical experience with risk management, product testing, capability studies and control plans
  • Highly motivated and self-directed, capable of multi-tasking, and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to create and review technical documentation, including project plans, test procedures and design documents
  • Exemplary written and oral communication skills are mandatory
  • High degree of professionalism is a must

** Must be willing/able to travel for approximately 15% of the work year, both inside and outside of Canada.
