What you can expect in a typical day:
The Health Safety and Environment Coordinator is responsible for establishing, implementing and maintaining all aspects of employee safety in compliance with company policies and government regulations. This safety professional is involved with all aspects of the operations including site audits, equipment status and driver qualifications in accordance with current Operating Standards, Company Policies and Procedures and in the best interests of the Company; its Customers; Employees and the Public.
What you'll need to succeed:
  • Trains, or causes all employees to be trained in the Transportation of Dangerous Goods, (TDG), WHMIS, First Aid, product stewardship, Emergency response, defensive driving, corporate policies and procedures.
  • Develops and provide new employee orientation training related to safety.
  • Work with managers to conduct independent safety audits of drivers, technicians & bulk plant operations.
  • Conducts or identifies causes to be conducted for safety meetings with all operation personnel.
  • Conducts or identifies causes to be conducted in fact-findings of injuries and incidents including other drivers, resources groups and managers in performing duties.
  • Works with managers and supervisors to evaluate safety measurement and performance and develop action plans to improve results.
  • Attend scenes of major incidents or injuries as part of investigation and development of action plans.
  • Meet with customer and industry groups in connection with the company's safety policies and practices.
  • Ensure operating compliance with government regulators and company operating standards.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the overall team.

  • Occasional travel in New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island is a requirement.

Education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred (Business, Arts, Science)
  • Certified Health Safety Professional Certification
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in the HS&E field
  • Bilingualism is preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to travel. This role will provide support within New Brunswick and PEI
  • Flexibility to work after hours and on weekends depending on operational needs
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized and ability to multi-task in a high paced worked environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate others
