Temporary Operations Manager, Saint John Parking Commission (Approximately 6 months)
Position Overview:
The Operations Manager of the Saint John Parking Commission reports directly to the General Manager of Saint John Transit and Parking Commission. The role of the Operations Manager will direct responsibility of Saint John day to day parking requirements of the City of Saint John through the direction of the General Manager.
Responsibility includes:
•Operational management of both on and off street parking.
•Supervision of 20+ staff and contract members dependent on the time of the year and enforcement requirements.
•Acting as the prime contact between the Saint John Parking Commission City Hall, Business Groups, Retail Groups and other interest groups in the City of Saint John.
•Negotiation of leases, management agreements and partnerships on behalf of the SJPC for parking facilities.
•Preparation and control of both Operating and Capital Budgets for on and off street parking areas.
•Planning for present and future parking requirements, with the help of the Community Planning Department, through the development of parking studies and reports so the Members of the SJPC will have the proper information available to make informed decisions on parking.
•Working closely with Saint John Transit in order to review various types of programs such as Park and Ride and Ride Sharing Programs.
•Working with other City Departments such as police, planning and municipal operations to ensure that the parking requirements of businesses and residents.
•Management of related capital projects and ensure completion on time and within budget.
•Management of parking ticket operations, enforcement and court preparation.
•Maintain a strong customer service program to ensure that the parking team are addressing ticket and parking issues in a quick and efficient manner.
•Advisory role and participation in various marketing programs.
•Operation of the Peel Plaza & Market Square Parking Garages.
Essential Qualifications:
•Must possess a degree in Business Administration or a related discipline.
•A Master's degree in Business Administration considered an asset.
•Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience, 3 of which will be in direct management of staff and corresponding budgets.
•Must be proficient both written and spoken in English.
•Proficiency in French considered an asset.
•Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
•Customer management experience.
•Government administration experience.
•Must possess exceptional problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills to troubleshoot and resolve issues and challenges.
•The successful candidate must be Security Cleared.
