Research Analyst


Job Purpose (Job Summary) :
The Research Analyst is responsible for analyzing documentation pertaining to the administration of RESPs and other registered plans in order to provide accurate information to internal and external client. They will also be responsible to ensure that all activities pertaining to incoming and outgoing RESP grant files such as ESDC and MRQ filing along with all error reports are reviewed within the appropriate timelines. The incumbent will also be required to participate in various operational projects with a focus on improving policies, procedures and system functionality
Key Responsibilities / Duties :
  • Research and provide specialized knowledge in the area of RESP and other plan administration to internal and external clients
  • Analyze information and documentation provided by internal and external clients in order to ensure the accurate administration and settlement of RESP and other registered plans
  • Prepare and execute tax-reporting requirements, as maybe required, in accordance with the Income Tax Act (Canada)
  • Ensure that all activities pertaining to incoming and outgoing RESP grant files such as ESDC and MRQ along with all error reports are reviewed within service level
  • Liaise with Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and various other governmental bodies on regulatory issues
  • Assist with internal audits of RESP, RRSP, RRIF, Locked-In, TFSA and Non-Registered plans
  • Prepare and execute cleanup reports relating to RESP plans , RRSP, RRIF, Locked, TFSA and Non-Registered plans
  • Gather relevant information for user requirements and assist with testing
  • Help maintain accuracy on Invesco websites (intra and external), and any external and internal correspondence (i.e. Q&A's, Administrative Guide, etc.)
  • Evaluate system/process flows and recommend changes
  • Perform any other task or function that may be assigned from time to time

Work Experience / Knowledge :
  • 1-2 years mutual fund industry experience, preferred
  • 1-2 years' experience in registered and non-registered plan administration preferred

  • Bilingualism (English / French) an asset
  • Team player
  • Ability to think creatively, open minded, flexible, and willing to listen for other people's opinions
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate in both verbally and in writing with a variety of individuals at all technical levels are required
  • A well-developed ability to work alone efficiently and effectively
  • Strong problem solving skills at the technical level
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines

Formal Education : (minimum requirement to perform job duties)
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred or equivalent years of direct experience required

License/Registration/Certification : (minimum requirement to perform job duties)
  • Completion of CSC or IFIC, preferred

Working Conditions :
  • Occasional overtime may be required
  • Shiftwork is required
