This position will support the various internal teams in McCain and external vendors to execute the 1M Tonne Challenge. Specifically, the role will be responsible to own the CO2 measuring and reporting protocol (methodology and process), share best practice learnings on energy-efficiency across the organization and enable the capacity-building and skills development across global operations
Workstream 1: Onsite energy efficiency improvement
Workstream 2: Onsite and offsite green energy generation and procurement, including:
direct and indirect investments in green energy technologies including biomass, biogas, wind and solar; and
PPAs for procurement of green energy.
Workstream 3: Agriculture and supply chain projects. This role will include providing technical and reporting support to teams responsible for these initiatives.
Workstream 4: CO2 Offset investments.
The energy-technical manager will support McCain plants globally in the roll out of the 1M Tonne Challenge programme. The program is structured in four workstreams:
The technical manager will support Workstreams 1 through 3, with an estimated 40% of the effort of supporting Workstream 1 energy efficiency projects at the plant level. Approximately 40% will be supporting Workstream 2 to identify onsite renewable energy-generation projects and gathering technical information for offsite renewables. The remaining 20% of effort will support Workstream 3 initiatives pertaining to best practices for growers, packaging and other suppliers into the McCain network, and supporting CO2 reporting.
Working in close collaboration with the regions and supporting external consultants, this person will execute the following tasks this person will:Report Science based targets and other GHG relevant reporting metrics;
Provide factory-level technical support for energy efficiency improvements;
Develop toolkits, manuals and share best practices to enable the plants across McCain to improve their energy efficiency;
Prioritize and technically assess onsite renewable projects;
Work in collaboration with external energy solution providers; and
Advocate (both internally and externally) for the commitment to reduce the carbon footprint, particularly related to energy efficiency.
Key Qualifications & Experiences: Minimum of 3 years' experience with graduate degree, or at least one year with post graduate degree
Experience in a technical role or environmental management in an industrial context
Strong influencing skills and ability to work within a matrix environment
Proven project management skills with strong organization and time management
