What you can expect in a typical day:
As the General Accounting Manager for Irving Blending & Packaging, Irving Energy, and Small Companies, you will lead a team of 3-4 accounting professionals to provide day-to-day, month, quarter, and year end activities for these lines of business.
What you'll need to succeed:
  • Manage and develop team of 3-4 people by providing regular supervision, coaching, and constructive feedback to analysts on your team.
  • Focus on continuous improvement of accounting processes.
  • Manage day-day accounting processes, month end and quarter end activities.
  • Approve journal entries and review reconciliations.
  • Oversee implementation of ICFR guidelines for general accounting process.
  • Interact and integrate with other process streams
  • Assist with preparation of financial statements and associated analysis.
  • Work with team to execute on month end, quarter end and year end closings.
  • Provide information as requested for annual corporate income tax return and all financial audits.
  • Lead special projects as required.

  • Travel is not a requirement for this position.

Education and experience
  • Post-secondary education in accounting or finance
  • Currently holds CPA designation.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in an accounting role.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing teams.
