Description:
Job Title: Intermediate or Hydraulics Engineer - Contract
Responsibilities:
Work as part of a process team to support all aspects of transient surge analysis, pressure control/overpressure protection and process control for liquid pipelines;
Perform pipeline hydraulic modelling using process simulation software;
Prepare, review and stamp Process Hydraulics and Process Control reports;
Participate in monitoring and reporting on the integrity of over pressure protection systems;
Day-to-day troubleshooting of operational process issues;
Monitor the pipeline for hydraulic issues and execute engineered solutions;
Gain a strong understanding of pipeline operations and work with operators to optimize pipeline performance;
Collaborate with various teams throughout to execute hydraulic engineering initiatives;
Qualifications:
Experience modeling pipeline transient hydraulics to support safe and reliable operation of liquid pipelines and related facilities;
Relevant experience with Synergi Pipeline Simulator for hydraulic modeling of liquid pipelines and related facilities;
Relevant experience programming in ADL or python;
Familiarity and understanding of regulatory codes, design standards and industry best practices for pipeline operations;
Fundamental understanding of pipeline automation and SCADA systems;
Proven analytical, problem solving and technical skills;
Customer service mindset; follows through issues from start to finish;
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written);
Able to work and contribute in a team environment while independently managing multiple and competing priorities;
Flexible and able to adapt to a changing environment;
Strong organizational skills;
Self-motivated and able to work independently with internal and external groups;
Excellent computer skills (MS Suite - Windows, Excel, Project, PowerPoint);
Desire to learn and take on new challenges;
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, Applied Science or equivalent degree as recognized by APEGA;
Intermediate - 6 or more years of relevant related work experience;
Senior - 10 or more years of relevant related work experience;
Registered with APEGA as Professional Engineer or Professional License;
Specialization in process control and hydraulics is preferred;
Hydraulic modelling background, experience with Synergi Pipeline software is a requirement;
Pipeline specific experience would be considered an asset;
