The Marketing Specialist Wholesale and Specialty plays a key role in the development and execution of marketing/sales promotions, communications and strategies that will assist sales in volume and customer acquisition in Canada, the U.S. and Ireland. This position supports several lines of business including: Wholesale, Lubricants, Natural Gas, Asphalt, Jet Fuel, Fixed Base Operations (FBOs) and Marine Fuels. You will work with cross-functional teams to position Irving Oil as a leading provider of quality products and services within our targeted market segments.

What you will do
  • Work with cross-functional teams to provide B2B marketing support in our wholesale and specialty lines of business in Canada, the U.S and Ireland. Supporting several lines of business including: Wholesale, Lubricants, Natural Gas, Asphalt, Jet Fuel, Fixed Base Operations (FBOs) and Marine Fuels. 
  • Support the Wholesale and Specialist Marketing Manager with strategic planning, promotion development, budgeting, marketing communications plans, financial reporting and relationship management with line of business owners as well as B2B customers.
  • Execute and track results from our marketing, communications and sales activities. This includes promotions, budgets, ROI forms, communication methods, training programs, product launches, asset grand openings, website updates, customer surveys, product approvals, image library maintenance, product catalogues, PowerPoint presentation development, and other ad hoc projects as they arise.
  • Lead the development and execution of sales driven activities, e.g. collateral and support materials, sales and training tools, promotional campaigns and other customer touch points.
  • Stay current with competitive activity in order to identify opportunities for supplementary marketing and communication activities. Monitor and report on competitive marketing activities.
  • Work with stakeholders to identify needs, determine next steps and execute on actionable items.
  • Prepare quarterly communications package for all lines of business with updates results.
  • Provide weekly updates of assigned projects and other initiatives to Wholesale and Specialty Marketing Manager.

  • Some travel (up to 10%) within Atlantic Canada and the U.S. as well as some evening and weekend work is required for this position in order to be onsite for tradeshows, openings or other events.

Education and experience
  • Post-secondary education in marketing or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in marketing or B2B sales/customer service.
  • Project experience a definite asset. 
  • Sales background an asset.
