JOB SUMMARY :

Under the responsibility of the Director of Pharmacy Services, the Chief Pharmacist (clinical manager) plans and directs pharmacy practice-related activities to ensure that high-quality services meeting patients' needs are delivered in all points of service. The successful candidate establishes the policies and procedures for the department's operations in accordance with legislation, regulations, practice standards and Accreditation Canada's standards as well as with Vitalité Health Network's policies and procedures. The successful candidate plans the department's clinical activities related to the strategic plans of the department and organization and to identified needs. The successful candidate performs the following: establishes clinical processes; manages the associated budget and the purchase of pharmaceutical products, of equipment and of supplies; and manages human resources, risk and the quality program. The Chief Pharmacist is also involved in identifying research project needs and contributes actively to these projects as needed. The Chief Pharmacist determines placement capacity for students in professional training programs and ensures that these students receive quality guidance within the department. The Chief Pharmacist holds a pharmacy certificate of operation from the New Brunswick College of Pharmacists.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Undergraduate degree in pharmacy;
  • One-year master's in pharmacy considered an asset;
  • Master's in administration or health considered an asset;
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in clinical care involving increasing management or supervision responsibilities (e.g. preceptor for students or clinicians, mentor for new employees), participation in policy and procedure development, etc.;
  • Strong management abilities including the following: program planning, development and evaluation; conflict resolution; human, physical and financial resources management; and problem-solving and analysis;
  • Ability to use evidence-based data in decision-making;
  • Ability to form productive partnerships and recognize partners;
  • Strong sense of responsibility and ability to delegate duties and responsibilities;
  • Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize assigned tasks;
  • Excellent coaching skills;
  • Participatory leadership style focused on clients and outcomes that inspires commitment, respect, compassion and equity;
  • Participation in change and ability to manage change with a positive attitude;
  • Interpersonal skills promoting a climate conducive to welcoming and showing concern for clients and to effective communication;
  • Good knowledge of and ability to use computer tools and office automation applications (Word, Excel, Internet, Outlook);
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned work;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethical principles, to the Network's management philosophy and to organizational values;
  • Compliance with the rules of confidentiality set by the Network.

Written and spoken proficiency in French and spoken proficiency in English is required.
