What you can expect in a typical day:
As the Senior Manager of Enterprise Architecture for Irving Oil, you will lead the ongoing strategic design, development, and evolution of our architecture program. Working collaboratively with a team of IT architects, senior IT leaders, and other business stakeholders, you will build and maintain strategic technology roadmaps that are aligned to strategic goals.

What you will do:
  • Lead the analysis of the current technology environment; recommend solutions for improvement including the digital workplace.
  • Lead the analysis of the technology industry and market trends to determine impacts on enterprise architecture.
  • Develop and implement technology architecture strategies and standards for multiple IT and business domains including: security, infrastructure, operations, enterprise, customer, refinery, and store systems, ensuring compliance within each.
  • Provide collaborative leadership to the architecture team in the development of enterprise, solution, and technical architecture.
  • Model business and systems processes based on findings through use case scenarios, workflow diagrams, and data models.
  • Develop, document, communicate, and enable architecture vision and principles for standardizing systems and software.
  • Follow change management processes.
  • Oversee documentation of all architecture design and analysis work.
  • Stay current with emerging trends and technologies.

  • Some travel within Canada, to the U.S. and Europe is required for this position.

Education and experience:
  • Post-secondary education in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, systems analysis, related field of study, or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant certifications in IT architecture and technology.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in at least two IT disciplines in a multi-tier environment (e.g. technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, information analysis, database management, operations).
  • Significant, hands-on experience practicing at least one formal Enterprise Architecture Framework such as TOGAF, Zachman, etc.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience with multiple, diverse business processes, technologies, and processing environments at an enterprise level.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience building and maturing enterprise architecture programs.
