What you can expect in a typical day
As a Data Services Specialist on our Data and Integration Services team, you will work collaboratively with various users, customers, and technical teams to meet commitments to internal and external stakeholders primarily through the development and deployment of data integration, data quality, data warehousing, data access, data science, master data management, and data analytics solutions. Applying development best-practices, you will design, build, test and deploy solutions which directly contribute to growth initiatives and operational enhancements. You have a strong customer mindset, great analytical skills, and always focus on delivering quality products. Working proactively with your stakeholders, you will ensure that appropriate level of support is always given and that problems are resolved in a timely manner.
What you'll need to succeed
  • Strong prioritization skills.
  • Able to work effectively on concurrent projects. 
  • Good analytical skills in defining requirements to determine appropriate solution designs considering capabilities, limitations, and design trade-offs.
  • Ability to communicate technical requirements to non-technical stakeholders and translate functional requirements into technical specifications.
  • Good understanding of data structures, data modeling, and database schema
  • Experience coding in various programming languages including Java and C#
  • Experience coding complex SQL queries
  • Aptitude to learn new software technologies.
  • Able to work effectively in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Familiarity with agile project management tools.

What you will do
  • Develop, deploy and monitor integration solutions in non-production and production environments, implementing changes, and applying updates for continuous improvements.
  • Provide Tier 2 support and ticket resolution, including rotational on-call work
  • Work on small to moderate sized projects for the development and deployment of new or enhancements to existing integration solutions
  • Follow change management processes for sandbox testing, promotion to production, and operational controls.
  • Document business requirements, specifications, process flows, application designs, application configuration, testing, and release management.
  • Assist in maintaining coding standards and documenting internally and third party developed solutions.
  • Participate in daily Operational Meetings and Weekly Change Management Advisory (CAB) Meetings.

  • Travel is not a requirement for this position.

Education and experience
  • Post-secondary education in computer science, information systems, computer engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of proven experience in business analysis, software development life cycle, and solutions testing.
  • Experience developing application and data integration solutions using Talend or similar technology
  • Experience coding in various programming languages including Java and C#.
  • Experience coding complex SQL Queries.

  • Operating Systems : Windows Server 2008/2012/2016, Centos 7, Oracle Linux
  • Databases: Oracle 10g/11g and greater, DB2 v9 or greater, MS SQL Server 2014 and greater
  • Software : Microsoft IIS, FTP Client (e.g. FileZilla), SSH Client (e.g. PuTTY), Database Client (e.g. TOAD, SQL Developer).
  • Integration Technologies : Extract-Transform-Load (e.g. Talend Data Integration, Cognos Data Manager, IBM Data Stage, etc.), Enterprise Service Bus (e.g. Talend ESB, IBM WBIMB, MuleSoft, etc.)
  • Data Analytics Technologies : Cognos Analytics, Planning Analytics, SAS Analytics, SPSS, Tableau, Power BI
