What you can expect in a typical day:
As the Senior Manager Organizational Effectiveness, you will have the opportunity to make a difference within our growing organization to develop and drive organizational effectiveness (OE) strategies for Irving Oil. Working with leaders and other internal stakeholders, you will provide expertise in the development of OE programs that focus on the people side of change while supporting business objectives and cultivating a high-performing workforce. This includes changes to business processes, systems, and organization structures. Lead the way in shaping standards and processes for the creation and implementation of change management strategies and plans, helping to maximize employee adoption, increase engagement, and minimize resistance to change. This role will also lead a team of OE professionals, providing guidance and support as they work through execution of plans.
What you'll need to succeed
  • Senior level experience in driving OE change in enterprise level organizations. 
  • Knowledgeable in coaching senior leaders and other managers in their role as change sponsor.
  • Lead a team of OE professionals to help execute on OE and change plans.
  • Ability to design, develop, and implement OE strategies and practices that are aligned with overall corporate goals.
  • Select, modify and design interventions to move the organization from its current state to its desired future state, using strategies that address root causes or performance gaps.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and innovative approaches for the OE function.
  • Develop and design OE standards through applying best practice research and bench-marking.
  • Lead the application of change management processes and tools with the goal of creating a strategy to support the adoption of changes required by enterprise level projects and initiatives.
  • Define strategic risks related to OE plans in advance; develop plans to mitigate these risks.
  • High degree of innovation while working within established corporate standards.

Professional skills
  • Leadership: lead a team of OE professionals, teams of external consultants, senior leaders and managers to support cultural changes on a company-wide basis. 
  • Coaching skills for people at various levels in the organization.
  • Analytical skills to assess risks, progress, and outcomes in order to influence desired results.
  • Strong ability to influence without authority.
  • Ability to adapt and change communication style.
  • Know how to build credibility and relationships quickly with key stakeholders.

Education and experience
  • Post-secondary education in HR, business, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with PROSCI a definite asset.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Human Resources and / or a change role.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a manager of people.
  • Operational experience is a definite asset.
  • CPHR (Chartered Professional in Human Resources) designation an asset.
