What you can expect in a typical day:
The Charlottetown Terminal Operator is responsible to ensure safe and accurate unloading of product and recording of inventory. The operations team must adhere to operating procedures and guidelines aligned with corporate and industry standards in their day-to-day activities to ensure efficiency, effectiveness of equipment, inventory, and quality control of product in the terminal dealing with 5 - 22 million gallons plus of product.
  • Balance inventory supply through gauging tanks and completing inventory reconciliation to ensure prevention of product loss and maintain an accurate inventory system.
  • Supervise the discharging of physical product from trucks and ships by ensuring equipment is properly assembled and monitored.
  • Receive product by gauging tanks, reconciling inventory, and ensuring equipment is properly assembled as a means of maintaining inventory and protecting the company from environmental emergencies.
  • Ensure a high quality of Irving Oil products through quality control including sampling and testing incoming product and inventory supply.
  • Perform preventative maintenance through the completion of regular checklists on equipment to ensure maximum utilization and longer life span.
  • Ensure efficient operations of terminal by scheduling dedicated resources to allow optimization of activities.
  • Ability to recognize customer needs and develop solutions for customers

  • Requires the ability to complete routine and complex mathematical calculations
  • Ability to climb steps, stairs, and ladders up to 50 ft. above ground level and to work on or near the water wearing PFD and other safety gear as well as work safely around rotating equipment
  • Ability to work a rotational shift including nights and weekends and flexibility to cover on-call requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather.

Education and experience
  • Post-secondary education in industrial trade or technology, or equivalent experience an asset
  • Experience in marine terminal operations, or similar Material Handing experience is an asset
  • Experience in handling hazardous materials (TDGR)
