What you can expect in a typical day
Interested in working in a brand new café? Do you have a passion for customer service and enjoy working with small, close knit teams? We are looking for a full-time and part-time Café Server to be part of our company's strategy of creating a branded employee experience within our new café. Working closely with the café team, you will provide a friendly, welcoming environment for employees, serve food items, take payments, and keep the café clean and well stocked. You will also assist with kitchen activities when required. This is a Monday to Friday position with shifts starting as early at 6am. We are looking for people interested in both full-time and part-time positions.

  • Able to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Good time management skills and able to prioritize quickly.
  • Thrives working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to work productively within a close team environment.

Professional skills
  • Provide employees with the highest level of welcoming customer service, always demonstrating a courteous demeanor.
  • Plate and serve hot menu items to employees following all established procedures and guidelines.
  • Take payments.
  • Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at line stations to ensure smooth service periods.
  • Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables as directed by the Café Cooks and Café Manager.
  • Assist in other food preparation assignments.
  • Assist in closing the kitchen following all approved checklists.
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offer suggestions for improvement.
  • Willing to learn and fill-in for other employees as needed.
  • Coordinate with other team members to provide the best service possible in meeting employee needs and delivering the vision for our café operations.
  • Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the Irving Oil brand and the vision of our Corporate Café.

Travel
  • Travel is not a requirement for this position.

Education and experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Hospitality experience a definite asset.
  • Knowledgeable about Point-of-Sale (POS) systems.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in customer service.
