EDMONTON
WSP is currently seeking a Construction Site Supervisor/Project Manager to join our Highways Transportation Team , located at our Edmonton office. Reporting to the Area Manager this position will be responsible for delivering projects that meet our clients' needs in and around Edmonton.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide Contract Administration and Construction Supervision Support on highways and road projects for Alberta Transportation and municipalities
  • Provide support and supervision to intermediate staff regarding managing day-to-day project delivery of transportation projects
  • Assist with design and tendering of highways and rural roads projects
  • Provide quality control and quality assurance oversight
  • Preparation of proposals, cost estimates, budgets, tenders, designs, forecasting, meeting minutes, project diaries, and progressive estimates
  • Attend client meetings, review and document work progress, adherence to plans, procedures, budgets, and specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Have a minimum of 7-10 years of Canadian experience managing Provincial highway transportation projects or a similar scope of work.
  • Graduation from a Technical school or University in the field of engineering or a related discipline is not mandatory, but may be considered an asset.
  • An understanding of the engineering consulting industry and the applicable roles of the consulting industry,
  • Basic knowledge of the principles, techniques, and practices of construction surveying and materials testing,
  • Ability to interpret and apply contract drawings, standards, and specifications,
  • Ability to manage and deliver completed, quality work on time and within budget for projects of various sizes,
  • Understand relevant legislative (environmental, health/safety, etc.) requirements,
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with a wide variety of interests/authorities, including public levels of government, utility companies, and contractors
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and have strong problem solving and negotiation skills,
  • Able to work independently and with minimal supervision,
  • Have the ability to organize, prioritize and schedule work without direction
  • Possess average or above average computer and relevant software skills,
  • Experience with Civil 3D and AutoCAD is an asset,
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record,
  • Ability to travel to projects sites for extended periods of time; travel is required
