The Department of Public Safety is seeking a highly motivated individual who is accustomed to a demanding office environment and has the ability to multi-task. The work involves the performance of confidential duties requiring independent judgment, initiative, and discretion. This position is located at the Dalhousie Regional Correctional Centre.The work will be on an as needed basis.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative services, including payroll and time sheet administration, vacation and overtime accruals, with a client-focused approach within a correctional facility setting. The successful candidate will also participate with employee on-boarding, maintenance of client trust accounts, preparation of monthly reconciliation statements, bank deposits and fine payment deposits as well as the development and maintenance of spreadsheets including formulas for the tracking of expenses, accounts payable and kitchen budget. Other duties include tracking and the weekly calculation of casual employees' Sick and Vacation allowances as well as the daily monitoring and recording of extended employees leave forms in an excel spreadsheet.

ESSSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must possess a High School diploma or GED plus a minimum of one (1) year of related work experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Successful candidate will undergo a criminal history clearance and security clearance

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required.

Hourly Rate: $17.72 - $21.24 - Administrative Services Level 2 - Administrative Assistants, Clerical and Regulatory, Office, Data Processing and Duplicating Equipment Operation.
