WSP is currently seeking a CADD Technologist to join the Rail and Transit group located at our Thornhill office. Reporting to the Department Manager, this position will be responsible for creating and coordinating drawing content as required by the owner, stakeholders, and project team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Creation and editing of drawings & sketches in compliance with Client Supplied Standards or WSP CAD Standards and detailing practices;
  • Responsible for CAD and BIM design tasks as directed by the Engineer and Project Team;
  • Responsible for drafting of discipline specific drawings including the ability to generate sections / schedules / schematics from general arrangement drawings
  • Responsible for document management including ensuring drawings are issued, filed, secured, and retrievable in an appropriate manner
  • Supervise, coordinate and support CAD Technicians in workload, good detailing practice and work procedures;
  • Contribute to technical capabilities of the CAD team as a whole;
  • Review and monitor the production of drawings to maintain quality, accuracy and agreed timescales;
  • Identify improvements (where possible) to enhance service to clients;
  • Develop expertise and stay abreast of developments in relevant technical field;
  • Lead by example and ensure QMS compliance across team;
  • Provide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns, to project manager, Engineer or Project Team;
  • Other duties as assigned/required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • College Diploma in a engineering technology;
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant work experience using AutoCAD and MicroStation;
  • Proven ability to create drawings (plans, sections & details) from Engineers' basic sketches to full working drawings, including Construction, Contract Change Drawings and As-Built Drawings;
  • Excellent CAD software capabilities such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, InRoads, and AECOsim
  • Working knowledge of BIM software packages;
  • Familiarity with ProjectWise software;
  • Good working knowledge of the Rail and Transit relevant disciplines;
  • High level of computer proficiency with various software such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint is expected;
  • Familiarity and ability to create a project specific BIM environment for the lifecycle of the project from design, construction (submittals and contract changes), and lifecycle documentation during operation and maintenance;
  • Ability to quickly pick up new ideas and skills, and be able to think laterally to generate new solutions to problems;
  • A strong collaborator who excels in building teamwork, fostering Client Relationships;
  • Demonstrated experience in the supervision and mentoring of other CAD technicians.
