The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking an individual to join the Bathurst District as an Assistant to the District Engineer working in Bathurst.

As a member of the management team, the successful candidate will be responsible to provide technical and managerial direction to the district maintenance team in the areas of highway, bridge and building maintenance. Working under the direction of the District Engineer the primary functions will be to administer and manage the delivery of the district maintenance programs. This will include the development and monitoring of maintenance and capital projects and programs, administration of approvals for subdivision developments, dealing with Human Resources issues, responding to public inquiries, and ensuring safe and environmentally sound work practices.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: Engineer 4: University degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of eight (8) years' work experience including five (5) years in the field of highway construction and/or maintenance and a minimum of five (5) years supervisory and administrative experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Registration as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientist of New Brunswick and possession of a valid New Brunswick Driver's License are also required.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

The following operational requirement is also required: travel throughout the District.

SALARY: Engineer 4: $2,686.77 to $3,504.15 bi-weekly (based on a 36 ¼ hour work week).
