Vice President, Operations
Scotian Gold is a tree fruit cooperative owned by 34 apple growers in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia specializing in high quality, premium apple varieties such as Honeycrisp, SweeTango and Ambrosia. The company has a rich history and is the largest apple packing and storage operation on the east coast. On behalf of Scotian Gold, we are seeking a Vice President, Operations to join their team.
As the Vice President, Operations you will manage operations and develop and implement plans for optimizing operational effectiveness and efficiency. You will provide direction to, and help develop and maintain, a team that responds to operational needs and is constantly striving to do things in a more efficient way. Ensuring Scotian Gold consistently adheres to best practices and standards in the areas of quality, planning, and continuous improvement; you will implement metrics that help drive performance and work closely with employees to address any gaps. Assessing existing operations processes to see what can be done differently, you will research options, and implement new value add solutions. As a hands-on leader, you will work closely with your staff to ensure the right structure and people are in place to achieve targets and drive a culture of safety and customer focus.
As the ideal candidate, you are a proven leader with significant operational experience within a manufacturing organization. Food manufacturing would be an considered an asset as would your post secondary education in Engineering or Business. You have a successful track record of driving value in an organization through continuous improvement or identification of new production opportunities and can collaborate with others to implement effective action plans to keep projects moving forward. Your business acumen will show through in your ability to manage budgets and build a strong business case to support new ideas. With a get-it-done attitude, you are comfortable working at both the strategic and tactical level of operations. You have natural interpersonal and communication skills and use both to build good working relationships across the organization. Additionally, you bring a results-oriented approach to prioritize and deliver on key initiatives.
