The Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture is seeking individuals to join the Hopewell Rocks team as interpreters.

As members of the Hopewell Rocks team, the successful candidates will act as ambassadors by servicing visitors' needs and providing an engaging and positive experience.

The successful candidates will provide interpretive services to Hopewell Rocks' guests through exhibit interpretation, interactive guided tours, and one-on-one interactions while ensuring the safety of visitors and ensuring that visitors comply with rules and protocols.

The interpreters have a passion for the outdoors, nature and the earth sciences.


  • Completion of grade 10;
  • Considerable related work experience in customer service;
  • First Aid and CPR certifications;
  • Valid driver's license (class 5);
  • Knowledge and experience working with various software as well with social media platforms.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Some positions require written and spoken competence in English. Others will require written and spoken competence in English and spoken competence in French. Please state your language capability.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:  Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate:

  • Experience conducting guided groups;
  • Experience providing interpretative programs;
  • Knowledge of the history of Hopewell Rocks.

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

The following operational requirements are also required:

  • Working on weekends and holidays;
  • Wearing the assigned uniform.
