WSP is currently seeking an Intermediate Engineer/Project Coordinator to join our Structural Engineering Group, located at our Toronto office. Reporting to the Structural Engineering Department Manager this position will be responsible for working with a multi-disciplinary team to take innovative design solutions from proposals through to constructed projects for clients in a wide variety of Sectors.
  • Coordinate projects with clients and other disciplines;
  • Plan, execute and control the project through all phases;
  • Perform Engineering Calculations and Assessments for Steel, Concrete, Masonry, and Wood structures;
  • Manage and Coordinate projects with clients and other disciplines;
  • Knowledge of related disciplines/fields of engineering is required;
  • Assist the Project Manager to liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing and regular basis to maintain communication;
  • Keep the Project Manager informed about project status and issues;
  • Uses initiative and judgment to resolve problems, interprets engineering specifications, investigates design and field engineering difficulties and coordinates work schedules;
  • Develops and maintains client relationships effectively;
  • Develop and deliver progress reports and presentations;
  • Write Technical Reports;
  • Other duties as assigned; and
  • Occasional travel within Canada for Site Assessments and Site Support;

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering;
  • 4-7 years of experience;
  • Familiarity with all applicable codes and standards;
  • Registered Professional Engineer with the PEO;
  • Demonstrated Project Management experience;
  • Knowledge of project planning, procurement and construction phases;
  • Knowledge of establishing priorities and solving problems;
  • Suitable experience in the design or construction of new and renovation projects for a variety of project types including Institutional (schools, data centres, prisons), Commercial (offices, retail stores, retail petroleum facilities), Residential (low-rise multi-family), Transportation (maintenance facilities, transit facilities), Health Care (hospitals, laboratories), and Light Industrial is required;
  • Experience as a prime consultant as well as a sub-consultant is desirable;
  • Should have general working knowledge of other building disciplines;
  • Experience working independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
