Sobeys National Pharmacy group currently has an open opportunity for an IT Application Specialist to join their team for a 6-month term position. The position is based out of the Dartmouth, Nova Scotia office. The successful candidate must have the ability to work effectively in a team environment and take initiative. Similarly, the ability to organize and prioritize job tasks in a fast paced, deadline driven environment is essential.
Job Description
Responsibilities include:
  • Analyze and provide support for software including researching, reviewing, documenting, and delivering
  • Provide software support in a project team / task-based environment
  • Provide estimates for all aspects of work and perform work to deadlines
  • Create test plans with detailed test cases
  • Actively contribute to the team with suggestions, solutions, and innovative ways to achieve improvements in the use of tools and technology
  • Identify functional and technical solutions to meet requirements
  • Identifying project delivery risks and participate in the delivery of the mitigation and contingency plans/solutions for those risks
  • Assist Business Analyst with organizational and process change decisions for the adoption and implementation of delivered solution
  • Maintain industry knowledge on technologybusiness solutions and future trends
  • Ensure all documentation is created, up to date and correct before solution or changes are implemented into production

Job Requirements
Required assets:
  • Relevant post-secondary education
  • Strong knowledge of database usage specifically MS SQL
  • Excellent oral and written business communication skills
  • Effective time management and problem-solving skills
  • Detail-oriented, ability to work on tasks with a quick turnaround time
  • Ability to learn and apply new processes and technologies
  • Positive attitude with a desire to work within a team environment
  • Ability to ask questions and not willing to settle with "as is" state
  • Self-direction and a proven ability to thrive in a highly dynamic environment
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, proven ability to tackle hard problems in creative ways
  • Experience with adjudication
  • Experience with SAP
  • Familiar with SharePoint (lists, libraries, Nintex forms and workflows)
  • Experience with reporting specifically Tableau, SSRS
  • Experience with GPO and PowerShell
